(20+ joyous people in driveway, 30+ more applaud us on 4 block test drive, top speed ~ 4 mph - the machine checks out!)

What we are planning to do
- Figure out how to tow the Busycle to SF
- Tune derailleurs
- Get that last derailleur on. Complete pedal station 14.
Tom said, regarding MM2: If I can't make it there, I left a deraileur and shifter and cable there at the back right pedal station, to be assembled and installed. I also left some narrow 10 speed (old school) chain for the loop from cranks to hub. If someone can bring some one speed (ie kid bike type) chain to replace the too wide chain I installed from the hub to the shaft, that would solve the problem of letting the chain fit down into the plastic tension pulley. Please save my too big chain for me. Thanks.
I still have the tarp related grip clips for future installation.
Let's hope Tom can make it to MM3! - R
I can bring some kid-bike chain - R
- get the BIG gears chained up again: big gear, then little, then idler and its spring
Have we got that chain guide taken care of? It is 3 pieces of angle iron, 2 parallel and 1 across. Could be a couple of piece of hardwood, or maybe one with a groove...
(It looks to Tom like it can be done quick and simple with a 4" x 5" piece of 3/4" plywood with a slot sawed in it to pass the chain. and a 1/4" mounting hole drilled after lining up the block. remember to bring a 1/4" bolt about 1 to 1.5" long (& Nut & washer))
- Other modifications possible at this point:
- posts for mounting the derailleurs
- lubing bearings (the nipples are there)
- custom shrouds for gear-trains,
- whisker poles
- mirrors
- mount the grip clips for the tarp
- any signage you can add to our project are also desired.
Tom Kabat master re-builder of most things forsaken
The Busycle is available any time, just cover it when you leave. Let us know here what you completed!
